We can’t stop it: Razer unveils new gaming headsets for console gamers. The new Kaira range now consists of five models with different arguments to appeal to both Xbox and Playstation players.
It is not always easy to see clearly in the ranges of Razer products as the references are multiplying at high speed, and the trend is not about to be reversed … Latest to date, the Kaira range, inducted in September with three references of gaming headsets, is already seeing its ranks growing with the launch of two new models: the Kaira and Kaira Pro for Playstation. We could have hoped that the manufacturer would clarify things by making a simple change of color, but unfortunately, everything is not so simple. A brief tour of the owner to better understand the specificities of each product …

At the head of the bridge are the models Kaira Pro for Playstation and Kaira Pro for Xbox, which is distinguished at first glance by their color. Aside from this cosmetic feature, the two wireless headsets generally share the same design, with RGB lighting on each ear cup, 50mm TriForce Titanium speakers, two microphones (a detachable gooseneck with super cardioid pattern, and a second directly integrated into an earpiece) as well as a wide range of buttons/knobs to control various parameters (volume, game/chat balance …).
The first difference lies in the wireless connection: if the two models can be used via Bluetooth, like conventional nomadic headsets (which justifies the presence of the second microphone), only the Playstation version comes with a USB dongle. C is dedicated to communicating directly and without latency with a console or a PC equipped with such a port. The Kaira Pro for Xbox is compatible with the Xbox Wireless communication protocol, allowing it to connect to an Xbox console without using a dongle. To connect and play on a PC, however, you will need an Xbox Wireless USB adapter sold separately.
The Kaira Pro for Playstation benefits from an additional feature, the “HyperSense” haptic feedback (vibrations caused by dedicated motors in each headset), introduced on the Nari Ultimate in 2019, as well as a theoretical autonomy higher than the version. for Xbox (between 20 and 50 h depending on whether haptic feedback / RGB backlighting is activated or not, versus 15-20 h).
All these little advantages nevertheless come at a price: the Kaira Pro for Playstation sees its launch price take off to € 220, while the Kaira Pro for Xbox is offered at € 160.

The “short” Kaira is the mid-range of the line of the same name and broadly repeats the design of the Kaira Pro, but without RGB lighting, without haptic feedback technology, and with a single cardioid microphone. Once again, a different color directly differentiates the Kaira for Playstation from the Kaira for Xbox.
Here too, the manufacturer has not decided to accommodate the two versions in the same boat. The Kaira for Playstation offers the same connection options as the Pro model (Bluetooth + USB-C dongle), while the Kaira for Xbox is deprived of Bluetooth, with a single possibility of connection via Xbox Wireless (again, the adapter is not supplied). In terms of sound reproduction, the Kaira for Playstation swaps the 50 mm TriForce Titanium speakers for “very short” TriForce, also 50 mm: a rather strange choice when we know that its Xbox counterpart integrates the same speakers. TriForce Titanium speakers than the Kaira Pro. It remains to be seen whether such a coating really has an impact on the sound rendering. In any case, nothing is easy with Razer …
Kaira X: the multicolored little brother who keeps the cord
Razer Kaira X
Introductory price 70 €
This tour of the Kaira range happily ends on a note of simplicity with the youngest of the family: the Kaira X. Here, there is a major point of differentiation between the Xbox and Playstation version, if not the color since this headset can only be connected. via a cable via mini-jack (not detachable). It can therefore be used with a very wide range of devices. Sound reproduction is provided here by the 50mm “TriForce” speakers, the same as those used on the Kaira for Playstation.
The Kaira X is available in a wide range of colors for € 70.
